Day 5

Well I broke down and went to subway....not I didn't cheat!!! I just needed a veggie sub today and it was good. No cheese, no real mayo, just veggies and bread with a little vinegar and a little oil. I came home and put nayonaise on it and it hit the spot. Still finding I am not craving sweets, really weird not to be craving sweets. In face we went shopping today and I of course forgot to eat and Jo wanted something so I just grabbed chips at miejers and a sweet tea at sonic....I almost couldn't finish it. It didn't taste good...it tasted normal but not good to me anymore. Guess I should be thankful so I will be.
Like I said yesterday there are some foods you just shouldn't smell, well I think there are some foods you should just close you eyes on...vegan boca burgers. They look a little not tasty but did taste good. I don't think the family wants me cooking with my eyes closed though. I think I could do it though, lol.
Been reading other things on internet today about veganism....really sad how people can't just accept that some people just want to stop eating meat and products from animals. I'm doing it to see if it does have a good effect on my health. Some people do it for other reasons. I'm not trying to get anyone else to do it, not even my kids. It's a personal choice and it just saddens me some people are so narrow minded. And I am soooo thankful I have supportive friends and family. Love you all!!

  2. a couple more things to try...those vegan veggie crumbles. I've used them in a few recipe's..not bad! You can find the vegan soy sausage it comes in a roll like the JimmyDeans but it's usually in the produce section, and the soy crumbles are in the frozen food section. You can use those in like spagetti sauce, or taco's etc. The black bean garden burgers are really good too! I LOVE those!

  3. Let me know how the veggie crumbles are when try them. I wonder if I could sneak them in on the family. I have already been sneaking ground turkey breast in for half of the ground beef and they haven't complained. I am not going to go vegan yet, but I can see that if my health dictated it, I would make the switch. I do try to have vegetarian meals from time to time and find that I eat vegetarian when I am out unless they have seafood.

  4. Tara, I love the sausage crumbles and most of the sausage items I have ate. Am still looking for ground beef type that I can stomach. The beef seems to be the sticking point with me. A lot of the "burgers" have milk or egg so they are out for me. We had decided at first that fish was the one thing we would eat anyway but after a couple of days I just decided to commit fully but if I am out and don't have a choice I really am not adverse to eating a little fish. I don't want people I eat with to feel uncomfortable and think I think I am superior because I don't eat certain stuff. All our bodies are different in some ways and this may not work but I do like it and hope it works because I actually feel really good about it. Like it's right for me. But if someday it might be the path you take I will have been the guinea pig for ya, lol.
